Be An Email Wizard
Of all the services we provide, email is probably the one you’ll use the most during your time at Illinois.
Make sure it’s setup right.
This article takes you through how to setup your Illinois email account like a wizard.
Claim your NetID and Password
Your NetID and Active Directory/email password are the foundation of your official online identity at Illinois. Learn how to claim your NetID here.
Log in to your University Account
Go to g.illinois.edu and sign in with your NetID and email password.
Can’t get into g.illinois.edu? If you originally set University emails to be forwarded to a personal email, you won’t be able to log in through g.illinois.edu.
Change your email settings at any time at go.illinois.edu/setupemail.
Set up Email Forwarding
Tell us where to send your University of Illinois email. Then access your university email through the account you specified. We recommend forwarding to your Google Apps @ Illinois account. Choose your email forwarding.
Change your Password Often
Protect your account, protect yourself. Change your password at least once a year. Failing to do so may result in being locked out of your account. Change your password here.
Ask for help when you need it! Call the Technology Services Help Desk at 217.244.7000 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to fix your email issues, all for free.
