Scott Genung is the Deputy CIO of Strategic Partnerships at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. In this role, he coordinates formal collaborations with other units, institutions, organizations, and vendors to maximize our opportunities for strategic and mutually beneficial partnerships. This role  builds upon existing relationships on campus, at the university system level, as well as within the Big Ten Academic Alliance, and nationally. 

Scott has greater than 30 years of experience within the higher education community. Over his career, he has served in a variety of IT technical and leadership roles spanning four distinct institutions including the University of Chicago, University of Oregon, and Illinois State University. Scott also led the creation of a grant-funded broadband startup, served as adjunct faculty, and has been active in a variety of external organizations including Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA), IvyPlus, Educause, and Internet2.
