U of I Box helps campus users collaborate on documents within and across organizational boundaries.  By using the Box website along with Box mobile applications, users may access their files anywhere: from the office, from home, or while on the go.

How to use this service

Users can get started with the service at box.illinois.edu, and an accessible version of the website is available at https://a.app.box.com

Desktop file synchronization clients are available for Macintosh and Windows, mobile applications are available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry, and Playbook, and integration is possible with numerous third-party applications.

Quotas and usage restrictions

Quotas: Unlimited online storage for individual accounts and Team Folders.

Usage Restrictions: 15GB maximum file size limit.

Sensitive data considerations

Box is approved by the university for storage of FERPA sensitive data.

Read and understand Box Health Data Folders Policies and Guidelines before storing any protected health information (PHI) in U of I Box. HIPAA protected PHI data must be stored in approved Box Health Data Folders only.

Standard service hours

Managed 24/7 by the vendors.

Scheduled maintenance hours

Technical management for both services is handled by the vendors, and no regular maintenance window is stipulated. Maintenance for the box-signup is generally handled weekday mornings, between 5 and 8 am.

Staffed support hours

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
