On 12:00 am, Wednesday, January 12, Technology Services will update the required minimum Zoom client version to 5.8.6 (released November 28) for:
- Zoom for Windows
- Zoom for macOS
- Zoom for Linux
- Zoom for Mobile on iOS and Android
Zoom clients on Chrome OS will be required to use version 5.0.1(4295.1111)(released November 15).
This change does not affect external or guest Zoom attendees and those using only a web browser to connect to Zoom.
What does this mean for me?
Having the latest client version now will ensure you are not interrupted after the change on January 12.
After January 12, Zoom clients that do not meet the minimum version requirements will not allow you to sign in.
If you are already signed in to Zoom when the January 12 change occurs, you will be prompted to upgrade (if required) when attempting to join the next Zoom meeting or webinar.
