The following is a basic set of resources and information to assist faculty and staff access university resources off-campus. Contact your local IT staff for assistance connecting to specific services your department uses.

Password and 2FA Recovery Options
Your password and 2FA recovery option will ensure that you can easily reset your password in cases of emergency and resume access to University resources if you do not have your 2FA device.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
For faculty, staff, graduate/professional Students, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is required to access a number of important university resources.
Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Most university resources can be accessed without the campus VPN.
For resources that do, including Banner, you can use the buttons below to install the campus VPN on your device.
Software
Remote Software Access
UIUC AnyWare provides virtual access to over 100 software applications on multiple devices and systems including Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. on campus or remotely.
Download Software
The U of I WebStore has free and discounted software, including Adobe Creative Cloud, that can be downloaded to your personal computer.
Video, Voice, and Chat
You must first enable Google Apps and Box on your account before attempting to use either of those services.
Skype for Business
Skype for Business is the recommended tool for work-related calls and instant messaging.
For Windows – Skype for Business is a part of the Microsoft 365 suite and can be downloaded after logging in to the Office 365 site.
For Mac – Download the latest Skype for Business on Mac client from Microsoft.
Zoom
Zoom is available to all students, faculty and staff, and enables online meetings and live course delivery. Visit our Zoom Essentials page to learn how to use Zoom and host meetings.
Google Hangouts
Google Hangouts Meet is a video meeting application for informal group calls that do not require advanced features, such as recording, participant management, and breakout rooms.
Collaboration Tools and Cloud Storage
You must first enable Google Apps and Box on your account before attempting to use either of those services.
Microsoft (Office) 365
The Office 365 suite includes Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and more.
Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams (“Teams”) is an effective collaboration tool that is included with Office 365. Teams offers chat rooms, file sharing and integrated conferencing in persistent teams spaces.
Google Apps/Workspace
Google Apps includes Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Jamboard, and more.
Cloud Storage
All students, faculty, and staff have access to U of I Box, Google Drive, and Microsoft OneDrive (sign in using your NetID@illinois.edu).
