AWS Immersion Days

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is offering three workshops to enable researchers with cloud solutions, on February 22, March 1, and March 8. The workshops will take place virtually and are intended for researchers interested in learning how AWS can enable innovation and speed to science.

Research Workshop #1

Introduction to Research Computing on AWS and Running Containers on AWS

Description: Join us for a the first of a series of chalk talks and hands-on workshops that can help researchers and research IT support staff at the University of Illinois to enable and accelerate research using AWS. This initial session will cover research in the cloud, cloud computing basics, containers and is specifically designed for researchers/research IT staff with no or limited background in cloud computing. UIUC Technology Services will also provide instructions for provisioning an AWS account.

Note: For all hands-on workshops, AWS will provide temporary AWS account for the lab portion.

Research Workshop #2

High Performance Computing with AWS

Duration: 2 3/4 hours

Description: Join us for session 2 of our series of chalk talks and hands-on workshops that will help researchers and research IT support staff at the University of Illinois enable High Performance Computing (HPC) in research with AWS. UIUC Technology Services will also provide instructions for provisioning an AWS account.
Attendees of this session are encouraged to attend the Introduction to Research Computing on AWS taking place on February 22nd, 2023, or have a basic understanding of AWS.

Note: For all hands-on workshops, AWS will provide temporary AWS account for the lab portion.

Research Workshop #3

Introduction to AI / Machine Learning on AWS and Amazon SageMaker

Description: Join us for session 3 of our series of chalk talks and hands-on workshops that will help researchers and research IT support staff at the University of Illinois enable AI/Machine Learning for research with AWS. UIUC Technology Services will also provide instructions for provisioning an AWS account.
