Privacy and Cybersecurity Website Launched

A new website to help students, staff, and faculty better understand and navigate cybersecurity and privacy at Illinois launches October 1—just in time for Cybersecurity Awareness Month—at cybersecurity.illinois.edu.

Visitors can learn about the ways the university identifies, stores, manages, and protects data, as well as ways individuals can be active partners in cybersecurity in their work, school, and personal lives.

The website is part of a five-year financial commitment to introduce new security capabilities and create a risk aware culture aligned to the university’s mission, explained Chief Privacy and Security Officer Joe Barnes. “As Technology Services expanded its work in Privacy and Cybersecurity, we found we needed a place for answers about support options for units, colleges and researchers.

The site will enhance individuals’ cybersecurity knowledge and encourage personal participation in protecting university and personal data, as we all have a role to play.” he said.

Over time more content will be added, including resources related to a new Privacy Center and resources for IT Professionals.
